DRAW NEARER TO GOD ALMIGHTY

 

Text: Matthew 15:8

Memory Verse: "And thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen, and thou shalt be near unto me, thou, and thy children, and thy children's children, and thy flocks, and thy herds, and all that thou hast: 

And there will I nourish thee; for yet there are five years of famine; lest thou, and thy household, and all that thou hast, come to poverty." (Genesis 45:10-11)

Without any iota of doubt, we have come to a near-crisis point, where people are finding it extremely hard to survive. The prices of everything in the market have skyrocketed. Yet, their income have remained the same, Large amount of money is only able to procure small quantity of goods and people keep wondering where we are going from here. This situation is in addition to the insecurity that has enveloped our nation leading to people being abducted, kidnapped and killed indiscriminately. 

At a time when famine was projected for five years, God gave the children of Israel in Egypt charge to dwell in Goshen in order to draw near unto Him with their children, grandchildren, flocks, herds and all their possessions. God promised to take care of them so that they would not come to poverty. In the same vein, God enjoins all the chosen people to draw near Him especially during this period economic stagnation so He would bless them and draw them out of poverty. Therefore, drawing nearer unto God will ensure that you are fabulously blessed. It will be completely out of place to draw back from following God and yet expect to be fabulously blessed. Many professed believers today are not blessed for the simple reason that they have drawn back from following the Lord. God says His spirit is not pleased when we draw back.

Drawing back creates a vacuum and God does not bless when there is a vacuum. So, draw nearer to God in righteousness, holiness, sanctification, commitment, consecration, evangelism, prayer and fasting and the rest of them. By so doing, you would have created the bonding that will eventually pave the way for your blessing. As a matter of drawing near, repent from all your sins, accept Jesus Christ into your life and make Him your Lord and personal Saviour. This enables the spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ to be planted in your life and you will receive the power to operate in the blessings of God.

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:

1. Let anything drawing me back from following the Lord be separated from me by fire, in Jesus name.

2. Lord, I ask for fresh grace to draw nearer unto you, in Jesus name.

3. Every hunger and famine projected against me and my family, be destroyed, in Jesus name.

4. Any war or destruction looming over our nation, be cancelled, in Jesus name.
